Floral Still Life Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Pink Glory", 6x8" Oil on Panel
I have been doing a few palette knife paintings, recently.
I think, I could be a much better artist, if I were to limit my techniques and subject matter to one type, but I also think that would be rather boring!
Variety of the spice of life......right?
I am fortunate and do not have to financially support myself, with my art, so I can indulge myself, in this way. Others are not. Still others do not have the desire to jump around, but are focused totally on one technique or subject.
Is there a right or wrong?
Thanks for viewing my art today.

Fish Painting, Angelfish Painting, Textured Painting,SOLD
Sometime ago, I visited Key Largo, which inspired a series of paintings, I called my Coral Reef Series. One of favorites of the series is called "Angels on Parade".
My client, who purchased this painting, also commissioned a companion piece. Below is the second painting.
The client was very pleased with the pair of artworks.

Abstract Sunset, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Textured, 14x18 Oil on Canvas

Usually, I find myself there alone, with only the soft waves and shore birds to keep me company. I very special time to connect with nature and prepare for the day ahead.
detail With this piece, I used my palette knife to give movement to the painting. |

Expressionist Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 9x12" Oil on Canvas Seascape
Well probably your 5 yr old kid could do this....right? Maybe that is why I enjoy it so much.
I may be a slow learner, because it took me many years to get to this point. Mama never said I was the sharpest knife in the drawer.
All kidding aside, I really love the freedom of this piece. Instead of leaving the studio feeling like I have been fighting for hours, I felt very relaxed, happy and ready to sail through the day. I think I need to do this more often!

"BFF" by Carol Schiff
I just returned from a few weeks in the mountains of western North Carolina. We have an October trip planned, to take in the beautiful fall colors, which I am really anticipating. Until then, I will have to be satisfied with our Florida type of tree. They have a beauty of their own....not really big leaves or bright colors, but graceful palms and huge live oaks draped in Spanish moss and with limbs that seem to be a mile long.

Purchase here 225 + shipping These don't have Spanish moss, but I was taken by their entwined limbs, like they are giving each other a hug and will be best friends forever. I painted this with a palette knife and I used a technique I call "color weaving". It gives me lots of texture and I can get really subtle color changes. I have a nice wide molding in a dark wood tone that I will use to frame this one. I think it will make it pop off the wall! I hope to get many photos of fall color in the mountains next month....it's my favorite time of the year! |
