Beach Oil Painting, Florida Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Tropical Painting
I recently returned home from four wonderful days on Amelia Island, Florida. The ocean is often very calm there....not a good surfing place. One evening we stood on the beach and watched dusk descend over the water.
It was the first time I have been inspired to do a landscape in quite awhile. I felt very relaxed, just painting this peaceful scene. Hope you like it!
Have a great day!

Rural Landscape Painting | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Country Road by Carol Schiff | 6x8" Original SOLD
Country Road, take me home.....
I still miss John Denver! This rural landscape painting reminds me of his talent and the beautiful songs he left with us.
I walk this road every morning when I am in the Smoky Mts. of Carolina. The morning light and pastoral scenes are the perfect way to start my days there.
I painted with a palette knife, in a technique I refer to as "color weaving". It allows for lots of texture in the work as well as very subtle changes in color. This is actually the same scene I painted in a previous post. Check out my Sept 7, 2014 post where I cropped the image and painted with a brush. A completely different composition! That's one of the things I love about art.

Fall Landscape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Autumn Trees, 6x8" Oil on Canvas
How did this happen! How could it possibly be almost autumn? Time seems to go faster and faster each year.

We have just returned from time in the mountains, rushing home to monitor hurricane season in Florida. When we return to the mountains, this will be a typical scene.
It is so easy to overdue autumn colors. Your eye tells you the intense colors are what you are seeing, but when you put it on canvas, it is not believable. Time to tone it down a touch. Nature is maybe not quite that bright.

Daily Painting, Small Landscape "A Touch of Fall" 6x8" Original Oil
We spent a few days in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains last week. Mother Nature out did herself with perfect days in the mid 60's, blue skies and the trees in peak color.

This scene is our next door neighbor and I couldn't ask for more. The brilliant red house nestled into the fall foliage and everything reflected in the lake at the front of the property.
If you have not taken the time to celebrate autumn.......do it now! Go carve a pumpkin :)
It was hard to leave the mountains and return to Florida where it is still hot and humid.
This is the third time I have written this post. It appears Blogger hates me. When I try to publish....the whole thing suddenly disappears. Is anyone out there having any problems with Blogger, or am I the only lucky one?
Don't forget to check out my painting sale at my Etsy site where I have listed paintings at 1/2 off for a short period of time.
