Hand colored photos

Several years ago I did some hand colored black and white photos.  I had long been intrigued by the process, ever since I had seen some postcards and landscapes in an antique shop many years ago.  I read about the process and decided to try it.
It is very time consuming and can be tedious but I loved the results.  These are photos of two subjects I did that were not landscapes or outdoor scenes.

The Big Holiday Sale!

Three more days till our big sale! This is the eighth year for this event, and we have moved from Carol's garage to Ralph's Art Supply on Highland Avenue in Melbourne. The sale starts at 3 on First Friday, Dec 5th and you will have another opportunity the next day, Saturday. Dec 6th, from 10 to 4.

We are so excited to be at Ralph's this year, and we have lots of original paintings, ornaments, pillows, clay art, jewelry, prints, and, best of all: affordable prices! If you're looking for something different, this is the place!

My paintings shown here will be on sale. I painted them joyfully from our group's trip to Silver Springs.

Just the Bling

Here is the same subject with just the jewelry. It takes a long time to get deep or bold color into a hand painted photo. The color is added a layer at a time, wiped and then after some time has gone by added again. You follow this process until you get the color you want.
The oils I used were special oils made just for this process. You also need special additives to mix with the paint and seal it. All the color is added with cotton swabs, not the ones you buy like Q-tips, but ones you make yourself from pure puffed cotton you can buy in a drug store. You then wrap the cotton loosely around long slender sticks you can send for.
I just love the colors on this one.

Annual Holiday Sale December 7th!

Gift Shopping at its finest! December 7th, 9 to 4

The Pieces of Eight sale will be bigger than ever this year! As an event within an event, my husband made birdhouses for each of us and we each decorated ours, without anyone seeing the others. On Sunday we had a big reveal, and I am so thrilled with the creativity shown by every member. These birdhouses are amazing!

There will be deep discounts on paintings like my Coconut Palm, above left; painted furniture; handmade jewelry and many more lovely gift items. Here's my birdhouse and my jewelry:

Ballard Park, Original Oil on Canvas

I had not painted outside in two years, so this was quite a challenge. It was one of those paintings I had to improve upon in the studio. ...
