30 Faces in 30 Days: Day 23

This is getting harder all the time, I think because life is starting to interfere. My to-do list is sneaking up on me. Anyway, here's Georgia O'Keefe.

30 Faces in 30 Days: Day 2

For me, the hardest thing to draw is a beautiful woman. This one has no lines, no scars, no wrinkles (unlike the man in Day 1). The only thing that's flawed with her is that goofy hairdo.

I saw a challenge online for drawing 30 faces in 30 days, and I thought that was a darn fine idea. I didn't join their challenge, just doing it on my own, and this is Face Number 1. This is really good practice.

The plaque on the wall of the Statue of Liberty reads, in part:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

The poem also refers to the statue, representing America, as the Mother of Exiles. In view of recent events, my drawing speaks for itself.

Fairy Cottage

Monday was my turn for the weekly challenge, so we did Zentangles, or, as Kathy says, Doodles. My drawing above is a fantasy drawing filled with patterns. I like to use patterns that have different values to give some depth to the little world I have invented. 

Fascinator

The above drawing started as a freeform doodle and built from there. When I begin a painting I usually have the the title in my head already. With a freeform Zentangle, the title comes after I figure out what pops in my head when it's finished. In this case I was reminded of those silly little hats called "Fascinators" worn to the Kentucky Derby and royal weddings. Even though I am calling them silly, I'd love to have an excuse to wear one!

Mary was quite inventive with her Zentangle, so I hope she has finished it and will post it in the future.
