Workshop Memories

I found this image, in my files, of a quick demo from Elio Camacho.  It is an example of his brushwork and wonderful color relations.  He did the demo in approximately 15 minutes, painting from memory.

Elio is a wonderful instructor, with so much information to share.  I was horrified when he wiped this off!

The painting below is another of his quickie demos.

Elio lives in the bay area, but he comes to Florida to teach each spring and fall.  I highly recommend his workshops.  If you are interested in attending a workshop, or a three hour demo, check out his schedule at his website. www.colorrelations.com.

This week, my sweet granddaughter, Courtney, graduates from University of Florida!!  Congratulations Courtney!!  We are so very proud of you!  Now, onward to medical school.

Wildlife Painting, Bird Painting, Daily Painting, "Great Blue Heron" by Carol Schiff, 8x6" Oil SOLD

It gets tricky trying to photograph wildlife.  This time I got lucky.  This Great Blue Heron was very calm as I walked very close to him and started clicking away.  He had his eye on the fishermen's catch and was willing to put up with me.

SOLD

I have been working hard on color interaction and am pleased with the color on this work.

Antigua Women, 16x20 Oil on Canvas by Carmen Beecher

SOLD
This is a painting I did while visiting Antigua. What a colorful place, and these ladies are just one example. They carry their retail market on their heads, and they are very good salesladies.

I want to plug the Museum of Bad Art at http://www.museumofbadart.org/  It is a hoot. No donated art can cost over $5, and if you found it in the trash, even better. Descriptions by guest "interpretators" are hilarious. I hope none of my paintings ever end up there.

Wildlife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, "Gray Squirrel" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

Have you ever tried to photograph wildlife?  I have, and consider it an exercise in frustration.  Many blurred images later, my friend and photographer, Ted Fuhrer, offered me the use of his images.  Thanks so much, Ted.

SOLD
This little guy looks very inquisitive and ready to bolt at the least movement.

I enjoyed experimenting with painting his fur and directing the viewer's eye.  The animal is much the same color as the background in this scene.

I put it in one of my black frames.  They seem to work perfectly for just about any painting.

Happy day to you!

Seascape Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Wave Painting, "Wall of Water" 16x20x.75" Oil SOLD

Lately, I have been painting seascapes.  I always love painting and viewing seascapes.  It's almost as soothing to me as a trip to the beach.

SOLD
Of course, the first step for me IS a trip to the beach.  I  pick a day with my trusty camera and head for the sand.  I count myself lucky if I get a few interesting shots.

For this painting, I used images from a trip to Barbados.

For the time being, I have hung this on my studio wall.  It transports me to the sea each time I see it.
Isn't art wonderful?!

Thanks for viewing my art today.

Annie and Max

After talking to one my fellow Pieces Fay, I have been in a collage state of mind.  She had just finished a really wonderful collage that she had been working on for quite awhile, we couldn't help comparing notes about all of the papers, bags, wall paper samples, magazine photos, fabrics, buttons, yada, yada that we have collected over the years. Each piece is special in that it just had to be saved for that someday I will use this, special moment  Collages are a great way to use these treasures.
Here is a small starter of a pet sheep we used to have named Annie and her first lamb Max.  It is not quite done, I am still working on the legs and background but I thought it would be fun to post.

Off on a New Journey!

Several years ago, I joined forces with a company that manufactures and sells giclee prints on wood panels.  It turned out to be a good move for me, and I was very disappointed when suddenly, the company was sold.  The new owners went in another direction and things were looking gloomy for me.

But now, after 8 months of work, we are finally moving forward again.  They recently sent me images of some of my new works on their products.  Not only, wood panel giclee's, but also pillows, shower curtains, totes and much more.

I was very pleased with the results, and want to show some of them to you.  Hopefully, you will soon find them on the shelves of a department store near you.

Well after two years of on again off again trying to fix my old blog so I could get into it again and long hiatuses of doing nothing then jumping into the fray again I think I am in!!!!!!
I still have no idea how or why but I seem to be able to use my blog again.  I did change the name to correspond with my Etsy shop was that the ticket?  I don't know.  All I know is I think I am back.
So much has happened but I won't go into it all.  I will just say hello again and start posting some paintings.

Hello from sunny not yet sweltering Florida!!

Strawberry Mansion, 5x7 Architectural Painting, Oil on Panel

This is the old Strawberry Mansion, a restaurant in a historic building in Melbourne, Florida. The place was sold, remodeled, and is now a restaurant called The Mansion, and all the strawberry colors are gone.

Ballard Park, Original Oil on Canvas

I had not painted outside in two years, so this was quite a challenge. It was one of those paintings I had to improve upon in the studio. ...
