I've been away from posting and my laptop and software for so long that I thought I'd better post something. The new year is two months in and I'm playing catchup. I've been thinking of creating some more tiles and Illustrator is the perfect tool for creating them. This is half way through an exercise to go from a simple line drawing all the way to some beautiful color symbols that I can then mix and match on the tiles to create a nice wall display. I got half way through my project when I started having troubles with my laptop screen going black on me. So, I've had to halt the experiment midway to get the problem solved. Here's the first half. As soon as the issues are resolved, I'll get back to it and hopefully get to my final full color stage.

This is the original line drawing. |
The line drawing is complete and masked so that eventually, when printed to a tile, the design is contained. |
Next stage: Adding values and start turning the objects into symbols. |
Adding gradients. I had to rush through this stage to be sure my laptop wouldn't totally go black on me. |
Next, as soon as my screen problem is resolved, I'll start modifying the symbols so they are in color. The great thing, if the project is successful, is that I will have some wonderful symbols to use to create a beautiful set of tiles.
I really like this, enjoy your process and can't wait to see more.
