Snuggled Palms, 8x6 Original Oil Landscape Painting by Carmen Beecher

These palms were all by themselves by the water, but they look like they are getting along well. Reflections are such a challenge, especially in still water. My brain just doesn't work right when painting reflections. I seem to be on a landscape binge, and it's all because of studying the work of Mark Boedges and Clyde Aspevig. I just can't get enough.

Reflections of Venice, 14x11, Oil on Canvas by Carmen Beecher

I am reflecting on one of my best trips ever, to Venice with my sister. We had such a good time, and the beauty of the place was overwhelming. We also managed to experience Rome and Paris during that trip, and I am eternally grateful to my sis for the fantastic time we had. We were in the Sistine Chapel before anyone else got there! She has the World's Greatest Travel Agent, and we always have wonderful adventures together.

Alexandra, 5x7 Oil Painting on Canvas, Portrait in English Garden by Carmen Beecher

NFS

My sister took this picture of our friend Alexandra during the week of her wedding. I was struck by the colors, the pose, and her reflection in the water (I'm a sucker for reflections). I broke the rules of composition by placing her smack in the middle top half of the picture, and I like it. Her beautiful red hair is the piece de resistance.
